Today marks the beginning of my appointment at parish priest of Our Lady’s in Currie.  In the short term there will be no change to Mass times either here at St. Cuthbert’s or at Our Lady’s in Currie.  This is partly due to a kind offer of assistance from Father Tom Molloy, the chaplain to the Western General Hospital who lives in the house at Currie. It will mean that on some Sundays he will celebrate Mass here while I go to Our Lady’s. Other weekends he will say the Mass in Our Lady’s and I will be here. Please pray for all the priests who have been changed to new parishes and who take up their appointments this weekend.
Today, for a trial period, there are two supplementary newsletters.  The first called ‘Look’ is for children aged 3 – 7 and should be taken home and used in the course of the week following Mass.  The second is called ‘Ichthus’ (if you don’t know what this means, ask one of the children after Mass) and is designed for children who have celebrated their First Communion. It has been created to help them follow the Mass and understand the various parts. Please take a copy of whichever you need.  If you have any thoughts or reactions about them please let me know and they could become a permanent fixture.
TodayEucharistic Ministers please come to the Sacristy after Mass to collect your Rotas which come into effect this weekend.
Monday: Catholic Schools Community Mass at 7.00 p.m. in the Cathedral Hall. It is hoped that ancillary staff including learning assistants, business managers, administrative staff and janitorial services as well as teaching and retired teaching staff will attend. Refreshments will be served after the Mass.
Tuesday: The annual social care lecture will be given by Mrs. Barbara Wallace on ‘To love and serve the Lord.’  It will take place in Gillis at 7.30 p.m.  All are welcome and fuller details are on the poster in the porch.
Wednesday: The R.C.I.A. Group will host an open meeting in the house at 7.00 p.m. This is an opportunity for those who are considering becoming a Catholic to come along and hear what is involved in the process.  If you know of anyone who is thinking about becoming a Catholic please let me know and perhaps bring them along to the meeting.
ThursdayThe Keep Fit has resumed. It takes place in the Hall at 7.00 p.m. and is for all ages, men and women, all shapes and sizes. All welcome.
