Today the new Altar Servers’ Rota is ready for collection. Please make sure you collect your copy especially if you are going away and may need to organize a swap.

Today: Altar Servers have you noticed the deliberate mistake on the Altar Servers’ rota ?  It says July 21/28 when it should say July 21/22.  Because of that the weekend of July 28/29 is missing.  No I have not created a new calendar, just me getting it wrong again.  There should be a weekend of July 28/29 so if you would like to serve that weekend either on Saturday night or Sunday morning please let me know. Maybe it is the effect of sun appearing.

Today the new Eucharistic Ministers’ Rota is ready for collection. Please make sure you collect your copy especially if you are going away and may need to organize a swap.

Today: Guess what – the last retiral collection before the holidays. (hopefully). This one is for Peter’s Pence the fund which the Pope uses to respond to various requests he receives for financial assistance.

Sunday the Mass in anticipation of the Archdiocesan Pilgrimage will take place in the Church at 3.00 p.m. All welcome whether travelling to Lourdes or not.

Friday: The Archdiocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes leaves. If you have any petitions

you wish to be taken to Lourdes there is a box at the back of the Church. Please put your intentions into a sealed envelope, marked Lourdes Petitions / Intentions. The box will be removed on Wednesday

Diary Dates:

19th July: The Director of the Vatican Observatory, Brother Guy Consolmagno SJ, will be presenting his talk “Adventures of a Vatican Astronomer” on Thursday 19th July at 7.30pm at the Lauriston Jesuit Centre in Edinburgh. All are very welcome. Brother Guy Consolmagno is both a Jesuit brother and a planetary scientist at the Vatican Observatory, splitting his time between the meteorite collection in Rome and the Vatican telescope in Arizona. Thanks to his Vatican connections, his work has sent him around the world several times to dozens of countries and every continent (including a meteorite hunting expedition to Antarctica). In this talk in Edinburgh he will share some of those adventures, and reflect on the larger meaning of the common experience of scientists… not only what they do, but why they do it.

As the holiday season is now upon us will all Readers, Eucharistic Ministers and Altar Servers please remember to ensure they have arranged cover if they are going to be away. This is especially important when a visiting priest is here to celebrate Mass.  Please use the ‘post its’ in the sacristy to let me know about any swaps you make.

Holidays:  If you are going away, I hope you have a safe journey and come back refreshed and relaxed.  If you are staying at home, I hope you find some time to relax and take a break from your usual routine. If you are a visitor, you are welcome to our Parish, our city and our country.

Emergency Cover while I am in Lourdes will be provided by Father Tom (449.2372),  Father Tony Quinlan at St. John Ogilvie’s (453.5035) or the Augustinian Community at St. Joseph’s (443.3777)  I am grateful to them for providing this support and to the parishioners who will be looking after the house.

Lourdes T.V: If you have access to the internet you can log on to Lourdes TV at www.lourdes-france.com and you can see and join in the Masses and the Procession  in which the Archdiocese is involved.  The dates are as follows and times are UK time.  Saturday 7th – Blessed Sacrament Procession at 4.00 p.m. when Archbishop Cushley will be carrying the Blessed Sacrament; Saturday 7th – Mass at 10.00 p.m. from the Grotto (in English); Sunday 8th Mass at 7.30 a.m. from the Grotto where Archbishop Cushley will be the main celebrant.
