Today: The new readers’ rota is ready for collection from the sacristy after Mass.  Please take your copy today since it comes into effect this weekend.

Sunday: The Coffee Morning takes place after 10.00 a.m. in the Hall with teas, coffees, bacon rolls etc on sale. The Fair Trade Group will be in charge of it this weekend.

Sunday: 200 Club Subscriptions for 2015 are now due.  If you are an existing member please put your money in an envelope with your number and name on it.  The subscription is £12.00 per annum.  If paying by cheque please make it payable to ‘St. Cuthbert’s Church.’  If you are a new member please put your name and ‘new member’ on the envelope.  There are three £10 prizes for ten months of the year and in June and December prizes of £200 and £50.  At this point it is not really a 200 Club since there are many unallocated numbers due to various circumstances. We need to keep numbers up if the prizes are to remain at the existing level. Even if everyone who had numbers last year renewed their subscriptions there would still be 81 unallocated numbers.

Diary Dates:

21st February: The Race Night to add funds to the Parish Project Fund will take place.  The first stage will be to get ‘horse owners’ and lists will be available after Mass to give you the opportunity to become an owner. To become an owner costs £5.00 and gives you the chance of being a prize winner if your horse wins. You can also choose the name of your horse ! Most of the horses have now been sold (only three left) but even if you do not have one you are more than welcome to come along on the night and bet on your favourites. It is a B.Y.O.B and Nibbles night. If you would like to sponsor a race and have it named after you then please speak to Ben Malone after Mass for further information.  Basically the Sponsor gives a prize which in turn goes to the winning owner of each race.

22nd February: There will be a Remembering Service in St John the Baptist’s Church, St. Ninion’s Road, Corstorphine, at 5.00 p.m. The service is for those who have suffered the death of a child from the beginning of pregnancy onwards, whether recently or at an earlier time.  It provides an opportunity to participate in a formal acknowledgement of their grief. Those who wish to come in love and support are also most welcome.  It is hoped that representatives from organisations that provide counselling for stillbirths, miscarriages, and abortions will be present and available after the service

10th – 17th July: The annual Archdiocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes, led by Archbishop Cushley, will take place.  Booking is now open and I have some forms and information if you are interested. I have a limited supply in the sacristy. You can also contact the travel agents direct at Tangney Tours, Pilgrim House, Station Court, Borough Green, Kent TN15 8AF (Tel. 01732.886666 or email to info@tangney-tours.com).  Booking for the Saint-Frai Centre must be done through the Hospital Booking Secretary, 61 Hailes Gardens, Edinburgh EH13 0JN – Tel 0131.441.1939.  Early booking is advised since there are limited places available especially in the Saint Frai centre.

As always, it is hoped to take a group of young people to Lourdes to help and work with the sick pilgrims from around our Archdiocese.  This year the all inclusive cost for the Youth section is £689.  For more information, email youthforlourdes@hotmail.co.uk or give Kris a call on 07747867003.

The Stall still has some copies of ‘Living Faith’ uncollected.  If you have it ordered please collect it as soon as possible. If you no longer wish to take it please let the stall holder team know so that the order can be adjusted accordingly. Uncollected copies will be put on general sale.

I am grateful to those who are looking after the house and leading the weekday liturgies while I am in Lourdes at the Conference of Lourdes Pilgrimage Directors.  If you need a priest in an emergency please contact Father Tom (449.2372) or Father Tony Quinlan (453.5035)

Child Protection Mission Statement: In conformity with good practice, the Bishops of Scotland remind you of the Mission Statement.  “The Catholic Church in Scotland is concerned with the lives, safety, wholeness and well-being of each individual person within God’s purpose for everyone.  It seeks to safeguard the welfare of people of all ages who are involved in whatever capacity with the Church and its organisations.  As a Church community, we accept that it is the responsibility of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and voluntary members, to work together to prevent the physical, sexual, emotional abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults.”

With every best wish and

blessing to you, your families and

all those who are dear to you

Monsignor Tony.
