Today: The annual Deanery Appeal for one of the Missionary Orders will take place.  This year it will be Father Gary Howley, a Kiltegan Father.  There will be a retiral collection at both Masses.

Today is also the World day of Prayer for Communications.  Normally there would be a retiral collection for the work of the Press Office here in Scotland but this will be deferred until a later date due to the Deanery appeal mentioned above. There is a Letter from Archbishop Tartaglia, writing in his capacity as President of the Scottish Communications Commission.  Please make sure you receive a copy as you leave.

Sunday: Bacon Rolls etc available in the Hall after Mass with the Fair Trade Group in charge.  It could help build up your energy levels if you are taking part in the Sponsored Walk. All welcome.

Sunday: Parish Project Sponsored walk beginning at Our Lady’s in Currie and finishing in St. Cuthbert’s Hall. It is approximately five miles.  Sponsor forms will be available  as you leave Mass.  It will begin at Our Lady’s at 1.00 p.m. and finish in St. Cuthbert’s Hall whenever, preferably before night falls ! Please note any children taking part must be accompanied by a responsible adult, with their parents’ permission.  We cannot allow unescorted children to take part.

Thursday: Annual Gillis Lecture at 7.00 p.m. in the Gillis Centre under the auspices of the Archdiocesan Heritage and Arts Commission.  The lecture will be given by Professor Dauvit Broun, Professor of Scottish History at Glasgow University on ‘The Medieval Church and the Beginnings of Scottish Independence.’

Next Saturday/Sunday there will be Fresh Start Food Collection.  There are sheets at the back of the Church with the goods they need. 

 

Diary Dates:

22nd June: Celebration of Confirmation and First Holy Communion in St. Cuthbert’s during the 10.00 a.m. Mass. Please remember to pray for the boys and girls who will be marking this special day on their journey of faith.

24th June: Joint meeting of the Parish Pastoral Councils of St. Cuthbert’s and Our Lady’s in the Church Hall at Our Lady’s. Councillors please make every effort to attend this very important meeting to review the constitution of the Councils and, if necessary, update it prior to new Councils being created in the autumn in both Parishes.

28th June: Annual Parish Barbeque and Quiz night.  Tickets are priced at £6 for adults and £3 for children with all proceeds going to the Parish Projects. Tickets are available after Mass.
