Today: Lists are at the back of the Church on which Readers, Eucharistic Ministers, Passkeepers, Altar Servers and volunteers for the social events in the Hall after the Easter Vigil and on Easter Sunday are invited to indicate their availability for services and Masses from Palm Sunday through to Easter Sunday.  Please sign up today if you can so that the rotas can be drawn up.

Today: The Offertory Envelopes for those of you who kindly Gift Aid your Offertory Collection are ready for collection.  They come into effect on 7th April after which time any existing envelopes should not be used and destroyed. Many thanks to all who continue to help support our church through gift aid donations. Last year we received £8960.00 from H.M.R.C. If you pay tax and do not Gift Aid your contribution would you think about doing so ?  You do not need to give any more.  Please ask after Mass.

The envelopes for parishioners who do not Gift Aid are now ready for collection from the sacristy.

Sunday: There will be a celebration of Children’s Liturgy during 10.00 a.m. Mass.  The team have put together some exciting input for the children and there will be Children’s Liturgy every Sunday during Lent. Parents please encourage your children to take part.  It is mean for children from P1 – P7 only.

Sunday: The Coffee Morning takes place in the Hall after Mass with the Ladies group in charge. 

Sunday: Stations of the Cross and Benediction at 4.00 p.m.  This provides another opportunity for some time in prayer during the Lenten season.

Tuesday: The third of the series of Joint Services (The Way through Lent) will be taking place, this one being in the GDS Saltyard in Dalry Road.  It is at 7.00 p.m. and is entitled ‘Becoming Friends of Jesus – informal café type worship.”  There are still some copies of the pamphlet giving details of the whole series available as you leave Mass. All are welcome.

Wednesday: Celebration of First Reconciliation in the Church at 6.30 p.m.  All welcome to come and support the children through prayer at this time.  Once all the children have been to confession you may avail yourselves of the opportunity to go.

Next Saturday/Sunday there will be a retiral collection for the Papal and Episcopal Charities which incorporates SCIAF.

Diary Dates:

15th April: Service of Reconciliation in St. Cuthbert’s at 7.00 p.m.  There will be five or six priests available for individual confession and absolution as part of our Lenten journey towards Easter.

16th April:           Mass of the Chrism in the Cathedral at 7.00 p.m.

(During this Mass the oils used throughout the year in the Church’s Liturgy are blessed and the priests of the Diocese renew their priestly promises.  All welcome).

17th April: Mass at 7.00 p.m.  Following on the success of the Christmas Big Clean Up there will be an Easter Big Clean up after this Mass.

18th April:                 Holy Thursday.

Mass of the Last Supper at 7.00 p.m. followed by watching at the Altar of Repose until Night Prayer of the Church at 10.00 p.m.

We need at least two people to be present for the watching to ensure the Blessed Sacrament is never left unattended. Please indicate on the list at the back of the Church if you intend to be present.

19th April:                Good Friday.

(A Day of Fasting and Abstinence)

20th April:         Easter Vigil & First Mass of Easter                9.00 p.m.

                     (Please note there is no 6.00 p.m. Vigil Mass in St. Cuthbert’s. 

      (The Easter Vigil and First Mass of Easter will take place at 8.30 p.m.)

21st April :        Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord.

                                    Mass at 10.00 a.m.

11th May: To celebrate the centenary of the founding of Craiglockhart College of Education in 1919, there will be a reunion rally for alumni at the Craiglockart Campus, now part of Napier University. The cost is £40. For further information and an application form please emailgripfast2019@gmail.com by 1 March 2019. More details are on the poster in the porch.

From the Archdiocesan Safeguarding OfficeSafeguarding Audit: The Archdiocese of St Andrews & Edinburgh has been chosen to be reviewed by an external audit team from the Social Care Institute for Excellence(SCIE)/Children in Scotland from 26 – 28 March 2019. The audit team would like to hear from anyone who has disclosed abuse, shared concerns of unsafe people or practice and also from survivors of non-recent Church-related abuse, their families and friends. Copies of a notice containing further information and contact details for the SCIE are available at the back of the church.
