Today there is a letter from the Bishops of Scotland concerning the forthcoming General election. It asks you to consider a series of factors about which you should think seriously before deciding how to vote.

Today there are still copies of the letter and prayer card from Bishop Robson to mark the Day for Life in Scotland. This took place on the Feast of the Visitation (Wednesday). A retiral collection will be taken up in the near future for this work. Please remember to collect your copy.

Sunday: The Fair Trade group is in charge of the Coffee morning in the Hall after Mass. All welcome to go round and sample the fares on offer.

Monday: The work will begin on the changeover of Our Lady and the Confessional. The work is estimated to take four days excluding the re-lighting of the alcove to highlight the statue which will have been cleaned as part of the work.  Please be patient as the work progresses.

Monday: Mass for Vocations, celebrated by Father Thomas Prince Matthew O.F.M. Cap. in St. Joseph’s in Gilmore Place. It is at 7.30 p.m.  Refreshments will be served afterwards.  All welcome.

Monday: Meeting of the Parish Pastoral Council in the house at 7.00 p.m.

Wednesday: Final meeting for parents of children who will be celebrating their First Communion. It is in the Hall at 7.00 p.m.  Final details and information about the actual celebration will be given. Therefore it is important that each child should be represented.  The children do not need to be present.

Next Saturday: Archbishop Cushley will celebrate Mass at 12 noon in Gillis at the end of which he will bless the new Across Jumbulance used to take people on pilgrimage to Lourdes. All are welcome to take part in the Mass and have the opportunity to see this new vehicle close up.

Diary Dates:

11th June: Annual Pilgrimage to Dunfermline in honour of St. Margaret.  Pilgrims can arrive from 10.00 a.m. onwards to explore the historic sites associated with St Margaret. Guided tours will be available.  The procession of the saint’s relics through the streets of Dunfermline will start at 2.15 p.m. led by the Dunfermline District & Scottish Transport Regiment Pipe Band.  Mass will then be celebrated in St. Margaret’s Church at 3.00 p.m. with Archbishop Cushley as the main celebrant followed by individual/family blessings with the relic.

18th June: Celebration of First Holy Communion during the 10.00 a.m. Mass. Seats will be reserved for the children and their immediate family but after that it is on a first come first served basis.

18th June: Archdiocesan Lourdes day, beginning at 4.00 p.m. at the Archbishop’s House concluding after a procession to the St. Margaret’s Chapel in Gillis with Benediction and the Blessing of the Sick. More details are on the poster in the porch. All welcome.

Thank you is very inadequate to say for all who gathered in the Hall last Saturday night to celebrate my coming of age but it is a truly heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you. The individual gifts, cards and the presentation  were both humbling and undeserved, not to say embarrassing. The whole evening, planned and prepared in secret evidenced so much hard work by so many. Again thank you for all who were involved. I am very blessed by your friendship, support and prayers.  I will offer Mass for your intentions when I am in Lourdes.

With every best wish and Blessing

To you, your families

and those who are dear to you

Monsignor Tony
