Today the retiral collection for Word Communications Day which should have been taken up last Sunday will be taken up as you leave Mass..

Today:  If you wish, over the weekends of May, you would be welcome to bring either a single flower or a bunch of flowers which would be gathered at the start of Mass and then taken to the statue of Our Lady. Hopefully this would build up into a great shrine of flowers symbolising our devotion to Our Lady. Many thanks to those who brought flowers along last weekend.

Today: If you have not already done so, please collect a copy of the booklet ‘Cluster Parishes Together Handbook’. This is the booklet which will be used in the next stage of the debate and discussion on the way forward for the Archdiocese.  Please read it carefully.  In due course meeting dates and venues will be notified.

Sunday: The Coffee Morning will take place in the Hall after Mass, organised by the Vocations Group.   Bacon rolls etc will be available.

The monthly draw for the 200 Club will take place.

Next Sunday: Practice in St. Cuthbert’s at 2.00 p.m. for those being confirmed by Archbishop Cushley. If possible, sponsors also should attend.

 

Diary Dates:

24th May: The Sacrament of Confirmation will be administered by Archbishop Cushley on the children from St. Cuthbert’s, Our Lady’s, St. Joseph’s, St. John Ogilvie’s and St. Mary’s Ratho all of whom have been preparing over these past weeks. The ceremony is here at 7.00 p.m. and all are welcome.

27th May: “Wine & Cheese Tasting Night” in the Hall from 7.00 p.m. – 10.00 p.m.. Come and discover an exciting assortment of wines from around the world with an accompanying selection of cheeses. Beginners and wine buffs welcome. Tickets are £12.00 per person (over 18’s only). Please put your name on the list at the back of the church or call or text Stuart Harley on 07717 193425. There are restricted number of tickets available so don’t delay.

29th May: : The Archdiocese of St Andrews & Edinburgh inaugural Lourdes Day will take place at 3pm on Sunday 29 May with a Marian procession through the streets of Edinburgh followed by Solemn Benediction and the blessing of the sick. The procession will be led by Archbishop Leo Cushley and will set off from the Archbishop’s residence, 42 Greenhill Gardens, at 3pm. It will conclude at the nearby St Margaret’s Chapel, Gillis Centre, 100 Strathearn Road. A celebratory reception will follow. All are very welcome. 3rd June: Free Film and Popcorn Evening at the Ogston Hall in Balerno. Doors open 7.00 p.m. and Sister Act begins at 7.30 p.m. Admission is free but donations would be welcome. Soft drinks, DVDs and raffle will be available on the night with all money raised going towards the costs of the young people travelling to Lourdes to work on the Archdiocesan Pilgrimage.

12th June:   The annual summer pilgrimage in honour of St Margaret of Scotland will take place in Dunfermline. From 10.00 a.m.  pilgrims can explore the many historic sites associated with our national patroness. Pilgrim guides will be on hand. At 3.00 p.m.  a grand procession of St Margaret’s relics will make its way through the town concluding with Holy Mass at 4.00 p.m.  in St Margaret’s Memorial Church celebrated by the Archbishop. 8th – 15th July: The annual Archdiocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes, led by Archbishop Cushley, will take place. Booking is now open and I have some forms and information if you are interested. I have a limited supply in the sacristy. 16th – 23rd November: The Archbishop will lead a pilgrimage to Rome for the Year of Mercy.  The pilgrimage will coincide with the ceremonies led by the Pope for the closing of the Holy Door and it will be a unique time to visit the Eternal City. The cost is £620.00 plus flights plus single room supplement. This includes half board, airport transfers, 2 full day trips and 1 half day trip.
