Today marks the beginning of Holy Week.  On Sunday morning the Palms will be blessed and distributed at the 10.00 a.m. Mass.  Hopefully as many as possible will take as full a part as possible in the various Masses and services.

Today: Lists are available after Mass for Readers, Eucharistic Ministers, Passkeepers and volunteers to help in the Hall after the Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday Masses to sign.  Please check your diaries for your availability. Altar Servers please come to the sacristy after Mass to sign on the sheet there.

Today: The new boxes of Gift Aid Envelopes come into effect.  If you have not collected yours yet they are available in the sacristy after Mass. All existing envelopes should be destroyed.  Non Gift Aid envelopes are also available. Please make sure you use the next one in sequence.

Sunday: The Coffee Morning after 10.00 a.m. Mass takes place in the Hall with the Noisy Nutters  group in charge. Why not pop round to the Hall for bacon rolls etc ?

 

Sunday: Stations of the Cross at 4.00 p.m.  This provides an opportunity for some time to be spent in prayer as part of your Lenten effort. 

Monday:                               Mass at 9.00 a.m.

                Service of Reconciliation with opportunity for individual confession, absolution and penance at 7.00 p.m.  There will be at least five priests available, other than myself.

Tuesday 15th April:                            Mass at 9.00 a.m.

                Chrism Mass in the Cathedral at 7.00 p.m.  During this Mass, the sacred oils used in the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, Ordination and the Sacrament of the Sick are blessed and the priests present renew their ordination promises.  All welcome.

Wednesday :                        Mass at 9.00 a.m.

                Stations of the Cross at 7.00 p.m. in Our Lady’s in Currie at which members from the local Churches will be present. Refreshments will be served in the hall afterward

 

Thursday :                                               Holy Thursday

                                                          No Mass in the Morning.

                Mass of the Last Supper at 7.00 p.m., followed by watching at the Altar of Repose until Night Prayer of the Church at 10.00 p.m.

 

Friday :                                                         Good Friday.

                                                            A Day of Fasting and Abstinence

                        Solemn Liturgy with Veneration of the Cross and Holy Communion at 3.00 p.m.

               

Stations of the Cross & Veneration of the Cross                              7.00 p.m.

Holy Communion is NOT distributed at this Service

 

Saturday:                                              No Mass in the Morning.

                                                         Morning Prayer of the Church at 9.30 a.m.

                          (In accordance with the ancient tradition of the Church, confessions will not be heard during the day)

                                                                  No 6.00 p.m. Vigil Mass

             Vigil of the Resurrection and First Mass of Easter at 8.30 p.m.

                                                     Refreshments will be served in the Hall afterwards.

Diary Dates:

24th April: A Safeguarding Awareness training session for parish volunteers working with children or vulnerable groups will take place in Gillis from 7.00 p.m. – 9.00 p.m.  All involved in these areas please make every effort to attend.  If you are not sure if you need to go please ask either Mairi or myself for clarification.

 

Parish Project Fund Raiser: The Best Decorated Easter Egg:  There will be three age groups – 5 and under; 6-11; 12 and over.  Judging will take place in the hall after Mass on Easter Sunday with a prize for each age group – 75p per entry.

 

Copies of Living Faith for  April – June are now available at the stall price £1.40.
