Today is the World day of Prayer for Vocations to the Priesthood and Religious Life.  There will be a retiral collection after both Masses for the fund which helps support the students who are currently journeying towards ordination.

Today: The new packs of envelopes for those who gift aid their offertory collection will be available in the sacristy after Mass.  They have now come into effect.

Some people have still not collected their new set of envelopes.  Please do not use old envelopes.  Please collect your new set from the sacristy.

Do you pay income tax ?  Would you consider gift aiding your contribution if you do not already do so ?  Last year the parish benefitted by £8239.04 in the tax refunded from Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs.  You don’t need to give any more than you give already.  Why not think about it and then get the necessary form before the new tax year begins.

Envelopes will also be available for those who wish to use them but do not Gift Aid their contributions.  Please come to the sacristy after Mass if you want to collect a set.

Sunday: The coffee/tea/bacon rolls in the Hall after 10.00 a.m. Mass are being organised by the Vocations group this weekend.  Why not go round to the Hall after mass and meet up with fellow parishioners and taste what is on offer.

The monthly draw for the 200 Club will also take place.

Saturday:    SPUC Pro Life Chain will take place from 11.00 a.m. until 1.00 p.m.  If you wish to take part please meet at the Usher hall at 10.45 a.m.  Fuller details are on the poster in the porch.

Diary Dates:

29th April: Meeting at 7.00 p.m. in the house for those who expressed an interest in building up the SVP Society and those who expressed an interest in helping with Pastoral care in the parish from the census forms last year.  No commitment is made by coming along to this meeting but hopefully people will come to be involved themselves in this important part of Parish life.

30th April: Joint meeting of the Parish pastoral Councils of St. Cuthbert’s and Our Lady’s in the Church Hall at 7.00 p.m.  All councillors please make every effort to attend.

2nd May: Meeting at 7.00 p.m.  in the house of those who have expressed an interest in helping with the sacristy work of the Liturgical life of the Parish. It is for existing helpers and new helpers to hear what is involved and how to better organise what happens at the moment in terms of all aspects of the sacristy work.

19th May: Pentecost Mass in the Cathedral at 3.00 p.m.  This is especially for all those who have become members of the Church recently and their families.  Fuller details are on the poster in the porch.

S.C.I.A.F ‘Wee Boxes’: If you used these as part of your Lenten efforts and collected during Lent for SCIAF please return the money from the boxes direct to SCIAF as soon as possible.  The money collected can be gift aided by following the instructions of the side of the box.

Over  the past months small bronze coins and the occasional silver ones have been collected with the proceeds going to the Parish Project.  This collecting is starting up again either via the Card Stall or at the Thursday morning Coffee Morning.  The proceeds will again go to the Parish Project once a new one has been chosen.

If you have any suggestions for a new project, either abroad, in the U.K. or here in the City please let me know so that a considered choice can be made. The only thing to remember is that the project wherever it is must be approved and registered.

Urgent: The rainbow pack is in need of new members due to some of the existing girls moving on to the Brownies.  It meets in the hall on a Thursday at 5.30 p.m.  Fuller details available from Sophie on 07883.075690. Also see poster in porch.
