Today: The new Altar Servers Rota is ready for collection. It comes into effect next weekend so please collect your copy today from the sacristy.

Today: Lists are at the back of the Church on which Readers, Eucharistic Ministers, Passkeepers, people willing to help with the social activities in the Hall after Mass are asked to sign up. There is a separate list for Altar Servers in the Sacristy.

Sunday: The Coffee Morning in the Hall will be organised by the Ladies Group this week. All are welcome to the Hall after Mass.

Today the Pastoral Formation Fund retiral collection scheduled for today has been cancelled until the need for it has been reviewed by the Archbishop. The collection will still yake place with the money being allocated the Bishops Pro Life work in Scotland.

Saturday: St. Cuthbert’s Primary School Christmas Fair in the School Hall from 10.00 a.m. – 12 noon. Craft, Tombola, Lucky Dip, Raffle, bacon rolls, stovies – what more could you want on a Saturday morning? Oh Yes, a visit from S.C. All welcome

Next Sunday is the First Sunday of Advent. The Advent wreath will be blessed.  We will be gathering gifts for the children of prisoners for the first two Sundays and then for the homeless of the city.  These will be distributed via the St. Catharine’s Convent Homeless project.

The children’s Liturgy team has also kindly agreed to celebrate the Children’s Liturgy during Mass on each Sunday of Advent. They have put a lot of effort into their planning so please encourage your children to take part.  It is for children from P1 – P7.

Next Sunday: The Blessing of the Edinburgh Nativity scene will take place in the gardens at St. Andrew Square Gardens at 3.00 p.m. The service will be led by Archbishop Cushley.  All welcome.Diary Dates:

4th December: Meeting of St. Cuthbert’s Parish Pastoral Council at 7.00 p.m. in the house.

5th December: Meeting for the parents of the children preparing for First Reconciliation at 6.30 p.m. in the Church. Each child should be represented but the children do not need to be present.

11th December: As part of our Advent preparation Canon Dick Holuka S.T.L., M.A. will give an introductory reflection and answer questions on St. Mark’s Gospel which is the Gospel to be used in the new liturgical year which begins on the first Sunday of Advent. It is in the Church Hall at 7.00 p.m. All welcome.

Parish Project Update: Following on the Table stall which raised £627.85 and a coffee morning in Our Lady’s which raised £20.71 the current total is now £3934.62. Many thanks go to those who organised and those who supported these events.  There are unclaimed raffle prizes available for collection in the sacristy.

Archbishop’s Youth Initiative: The Archbishop is launching a new youth initiative for the whole Archdiocese this coming Advent. On each of the Fridays of Advent, he will gather with the youth of the diocese at the Cathedral at 7.00 p.m. to offer catechesis, prayer and social time together. It promises to be a great new way of meeting Christ and meeting others interested in their faith, so if you’re between 16-29, keep your Fridays in Advent free.

The Card Stall has the December/Advent issues of ‘Day by Day’ and Living Faith available. Please collect you copy if you have pre-ordered one.
